Demo reel still. The creature is a mix of dozens of layers of smoke created in Maya and some video. The smoke was rendered with hardware render buffer and whatever else decided to render at the time.
The creature was modeled in XSI and rigged in Maya. It emits smoke sprites and has sprites emitting inside and colliding with the geo.
I used an occlusion and a few other passes to give it some dimension.
